BELLEDUNE, NB – The Belledune Port Authority (BPA) hosted a celebratory reception at the BPA’s administration office on Tuesday, June 19th, 2012.
“It is an honour for the BPA to see so many people in attendance today to help us recognize and celebrate S &B Minerals’ 10th year anniversary at the Port of Belledune,” said Jenna MacDonald, BPA Director of Marketing, “S & B Minerals, Eastern Canada Stevedoring and the BPA have worked together to import, discharge and store perlite for more than 10 years now; these are the partnerships that are extremely important and certainly of high value to the BPA - We are fortunate to have such great relationships with our partners.”
Perlite is an agricultural product that is imported from the Milos Islands of Greece. It is used in the peat moss industry in North Eastern New Brunswick and is found in residential potting soil to maintain high moisture content in potting soils and other agricultural products. Over the past 10 years the Port of Belledune has seen more than 142,000 metric tonnes of perlite imported on more than 33 vessels through Terminal #3.
