Appointments to the Belledune Port Authority

OTTAWA — Canada’s Transport Minister, John Baird, today announced the appointments of Mr. Barry Kyle and Ms. Nancy McKay to the Belledune Port Authority’s board of directors for a term of three years, effective April 22, 2009.

“The Belledune Port Authority will greatly benefit from Mr. Kyle’s and Ms. McKay’s backgrounds and abilities in the business community,” said Minister John Baird. “Their experience in the Bathurst region will serve the board well.”

Mr. Barry Kyle holds a bachelor of arts degree and a bachelor of education degree from Mount Allison University. He began his career in sales and marketing in 1978 with Bathurst Industrial Rubber Ltd. and became owner of the company in 1985. Mr. Kyle is a long-time resident of Bathurst and has been a member of a number of professional associations, including the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, the Canadian Professional Sales Association, and the Bathurst Regional Economic Development Agency where he served as a director for three years.

Ms. Nancy McKay holds a master of science in business administration from Central Michigan University and a bachelor of science in physiotherapy from Dalhousie University. She is currently a director at Waymark Network Inc., a New Brunswick-based management consulting firm specializing in the healthcare industry. Ms. McKay is also president of Management Dimensions, a management consulting business focused primarily on the health sector. Ms. McKay is former president of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and has served on the executive committee of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy. She brings extensive board experience to the Port of Belledune including vice-chairmanship of the 2003 Canada Games in Bathurst, and current directorships with Enterprise Chaleur, New Brunswick’s Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation Foundation and the provincial Sports Hall of Fame.

The Belledune Port Authority is the Canada Port Authority (CPA) established to manage the Port of Belledune under the Canada Marine Act. As a CPA, the Belledune Port Authority benefits from greater management flexibility, including increased freedom to develop contracts and borrow money from commercial lenders.
