First Ship of 2013 at the Port of Belledune

Belledune NB -The Belledune Port Authority (BPA) officially greeted Captain Rodrigo Billon Saloma, Master of the M.V. “BBC Quebec”, the first ship to lay anchor at the Port of Belledune in 2013.

The M.V. “BBC Quebec” is registered in St. John’s Antigua and her last port of call before arriving in Belledune was Port of Panama Canal. The vessel’s agent is Calypso Marine Agency, represented by Mr. Raymond Corbin. The M.V. “BBC Quebec” docked at the Port of Belledune the evening of January 8th, 2013 where the Vessel is currently unloading approximately 5 900 MT of lead.  The next stop for the M.V. “BBC Quebec” will be at the Port of Montreal, QC.

Mr. Barry Kyle, Chairman of the BPA Board of Directors, presented Captain Rodrigo Billon Saloma with a commemorative gift at a ceremony held at the Belledune Port Authority’s Administrative offices.

Mr. Kyle also took the opportunity to welcome the Captain, with his Chief Officer, Alan Ngo Chu, and Chief Engineer, Olcksander Prybylchenko, to the Port of Belledune as well as thank the staff and Board of Directors for their continuous support.  He also stated that “2012 was an exceptional year for the Belledune Port Authority – Full of change and progress! We have welcomed new tenants to our facilities, as well as new Board and staff members, celebrated long-term partnerships and have been building new partnerships that will have lasting and positive impacts for our communities and the region.  After more than a decade of transformation, the BPA is enabling a stronger future and looking forward is a must. Belledune… Unlimited!”

Representative Mr. Benoit Cormier from Xstrata Zinc-Brunswick Smelter, and Mr. Donald Roy from Eastern Canada Stevedoring, also attended the ceremony.
