Investing in tomorrow’s workforce: The BPA Announces Scholarship winners

The regions and communities surrounding the Port of Belledune are filled with young, eager, and talented individuals who will be moving into the workforce in the near future. Being an advocate for long term prosperity in the region, the Belledune Port Authority (BPA) continues to directly invest in the educational objectives of youth from the region.

As the first month of the second academic semester wraps up for students attending New Brunswick’s Community College (NBCC) and the College Communitaire du Nouveau Brunswick (CCNB), the BPA will have completed the second full year of their Bursary Program with the local institutions. Earlier this year, the second half of bursary payments were sent to the colleges to provide financial aid to those who were selected as winners last summer.

The winners for the 2020 – 2021 academic year included Mr. Ryan Allard (enrolled in the Heavy Equipment Mechanics program at CCNB), Mr. Andrew Bujold (enrolled in the Residential Electrical program at CCNB), and Mr. Gaetan Drapeau (enrolled in the Civil Engineering Technology at CCNB). Each winner received a bursary of $2,500, half being processed in September and half in January, to provide financial aid for both semesters.

With the BPA’s Bursary Program entering it’s third year since being established, those interested in learning more about the program or applying to potentially receive the bursary can do so by visiting the portofbelledune.ca website, under the Anchored in Our Community section. The application forms will be available on this page beginning on March 1st, 2021, and all applications must be received by the BPA by June 15th, 2021 to be considered for the 2021 – 2022 academic year.

The BPA wishes all the students a continued safe and successful school year! Thank you for taking the steps to enhance your future as  well as the regions future.
