The Belledune Port Authority (BPA) is currently seeking a GIS professional to be the Port’s sole GIS practitioner, as well as to organize non-spatial electronic records. The position will be split approximately in half between GIS and records management. The GIS work will consist of collecting, converting and maintaining GIS data with ArcGIS Pro in a local file geodatabase; analyzing data and creating map products; preparing web map, story maps and basic Web AppBuilder apps; and deploying field apps.
The successful candidate must be able to work without technical supervision and be adept at identifying external professional support to achieve the work mission. The position reports to the Port’s Director of Engineering but will work closely with the entire staff and management.
This position is ideal for a self-starting passionate GIS professional able to balance a mix of routine GIS maintenance and editing with the ability to create new opportunities for GIS to provide value to other port personnel. It is essential that this position not only meet identified business needs, but also proactively seek ways to leverage GIS to provide solutions for staff members who may not yet know how GIS can support their objectives and workflows.
